The Million Step Challenge is an easy-to-use-platform to support any cause, at any time, and by anyone. Ten people create a team to take a collective 1,000,000 steps over ten days, all while raising awareness and resources for their cause.

There are three main components of the challenge:

  • Building a team
  • Taking the steps
  • Raising support

A team can be created by a business partnering with a cause of choice, a non-profit wanting to raise awareness for their mission, or a group of individuals joining together around a central passion.

Once a team is built, a start date is set and each team member is responsible for taking 100,000 steps over the course of ten days (or roughly 10,000 steps each day). Along the duration of the challenge, team members are encouraged to share their story and donation link with others to raise monetary support. Once the ten days end, steps are totaled, donations are compiled, and the final amount is donated to the recipient.

Fundraising starts the moment a donation link is shared with others. This can be through posting on social media, sending messages, or sharing the link directly after having a conversation. We encourage participants to share their passion with their audience and invite them into their vision for change.

Donations are collected through an online, secure donation system built into each participant’s donate page.

To donate, navigate to the team page and click on the “donate” button near a participant’s profile. This will launch the donate page, where an amount and form of payment can be chosen. Simply fill in the information and click “donate now” to submit your donation. Credit cards are the accepted form of payment.

Upon donation, funds are securely held in a back-end account for each team member. Once the challenge is completed, these funds are compiled and directly transferred to the beneficiary organization.

Each participant is responsible for tracking their own steps, either by using their phone, fitness tracker, or pedometer. The collected steps are then logged through a web form daily, which is provided to each team member.

Participants enter the date, steps logged, and click submit. The total will automatically update.

Absolutely. Anyone, from non-profits to businesses to individuals­, can set up a team and complete the challenge.
